Memorial Day Weekend Recap
Here are a few thoughts about my Memorial Day Weekend:
- It wasn’t long enough! (How can 3 days go by so fast?)
- I spent part of Saturday at the church, getting reading for Sunday…
- I also cut my grass & did some yard work. (This was much-needed!)
- Enjoyed Saturday evening sitting on the swing, talking, and watching the balloons from Freedom Weekend Aloft.
- Sunday morning we honored our graduates at Faith Renewed and PS brought The Word. (Great Message & Service!)
- Sunday evening was our 5th Sunday Night of Worship & Fellowship. This is always a cool time when the folks from our church minister through song, music, or drama. (Some talented folk at FROC!)
- After the worship & food, I put on a clinic on the volleyball court. Our team was UNDEFEATED! (Will keep you posted if the streak stays alive or not.) I love hanging out with my Church Family!
- Monday I did something that I can never do enough of… I spent some quality time with my family. We went to the pool, had dinner together, and just hung out.
- I LOVED IT!
I hope this was your best Memorial Day Weekend ever!
It Could Be Worse…
Have you ever heard the old saying, “It Could Be Worse“? This past weekend, I quoted that one several times.
We went to Hackleburg, Alabama to take supplies to the tornado victims & hit several road blocks along the way…
1. A load “shift” that put us in a truck stop repacking the load for over an hour.
2. That put us in Atlanta, Georgia traffic at the wrong time of the day. Enough said.
3. We had some truck problems that left us on the side of the road in Birmingham, Alabama for several hours.
As we were sitting in the truck around 2 am, I started to take on the poor me mindset… You know, the “why did this have to happen to me?” mentality. While waiting, I decided to catch up on my social media daily intake. As I was browsing through my Twitter, I read a disturbing tweet about someone who had a child on life support because they almost drowned that day.
THAT HIT ME HARD!
Yes, it was no fun sitting on the side of a road, in a city that I knew nothing about at 2 AM.
Guess what? It Could Be Worse!
My kids were back home asleep in the bed & safe. I was on my way to a city that was destroyed by a F5 tornado. They lost family members, friends, homes, jobs, etc… I quickly lost the bad attitude and began to pray for those that were in greater need than me. This made my situation look a lot smaller.
I eventually ended up having prayer with the mechanic that came out to check our truck. His mom has cancer. I prayed with him & for her healing at 2:30 AM Saturday morning on the side of the road in Birmingham. Maybe, that’s why I was there???
So, when you get in a tough place this week. Remember, there are others out there that could be facing a tougher situation than you.
It Could Be Worse.

Continue to remember this town & all of those affected by these devastating tornadoes.
Step Into The Water
This Sunday at Faith Renewed we are having our first Baptism Service in our own facility!
I’m so excited to celebrate with those that have received God’s Grace, and are now taking the next step in going public with their Faith.
Baptism not a ritual. It’s not just a church tradition. It’s powerful! I’m even going to say that it’s supernatural!
Every time we walk in obedience to God’s Word in the natural, we open ourselves up to the Supernatural. (Healing, Finances, & Relationships are all great examples of what I’m talking about…)
Let me make something clear. Getting wet doesn’t save you. It’s faith in Jesus Christ that saves!
Colossians 2:12 says, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Baptism IS a great way to show others that you’ve put your faith in HIM.
Bottom line, Jesus set the example and was baptized publicly. We should do the same.
LET’S CELEBRATE!
Sunday Night Reflections (The Monday Edition)
It was a late one last night!
So, you are getting the Monday Edition of Sunday Night Reflections. (Would that be called Monday Night Reflections?)
I had a VERY busy, but VERY cool weekend!
- Saturday I got to spend the whole day with my oldest son & I do mean WHOLE day! We went to Atlanta for a chorus competition and a trip to Six Flags. We had to meet at his school at 5:30 AM and got back around 11 PM. I loved being able to hang out with him. He’s a great kid! Like all middle school boys, he’s having to learn to deal with the pressures that come with the territory. He doesn’t always get it right. But he loves God, wants to please Him, & that will take him a long way.
- While I was keeping my priorities in order, by being dad before pastor. My church family was representing! They had 3 outreach events taking place Saturday. They were at the Mauldin Miracle League loving on kids, serving at the Home for Children in Mauldin, & having a Blitz here at Faith Renewed for the Alabama Disaster Relief.
- I LOVE MY CHURCH!
- We had a great Sunday! May is National Foster Care Month. We had a special Service Sunday morning to bring awareness to the great need that exist in the area of fostering & adoption. This is something that is very near & dear to my heart. I loved seeing our people open up to the possibility of being a part in changing a life in this way.
- Sunday Night we had a our monthly MIA (Men In Action) Men’s Meeting. It’s always great hanging out with theses guys! We get very “real” in these meetings & the response has been incredible. Men are loving God, loving their wife, & loving their kids on another level!
To say I had an amazing weekend, would be an understatement!
PUMPED about what God’s already up to this week!
