24…The End Of An Era!

Those of you reading this that know me well, already know that I’m a BIG fan of the show 24.
Last night the show came to an end.  I hated to see it go!
There are not many things that I really enjoy watching on TV…

A few reasons why I enjoyed this one:

  • Jack Bauer (The man!)
  • Jack stood for what was right.  (Yes, he was a little rough around the edges…)
  • Jack got knocked down but refused to stay down. (Not a big fan of quitters.)
  • Jack loved his country. (Enough said on that one.)
  • Plenty of action.  (He would fight for what he believes in.)

Of course I know the show is not “real”, but I do wish we had more Jack Bauer’s in the world.  Someone that knows who they are, knows what’s right, and willing to stand up to the “bad guy” and fight for it!  I love that about him!  I can hear you now, man crush! (Call it what you must. HAHA!)

When I think about the concept of the “real-time” 24 hour period it reminds me of a Series I did last year that I entitled, get ready for this…24.  (Did you see that coming?)

The Series asked the question, what if you only had 24 hours left?

James 4:14 says, For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.If this was your last 24 hours on this planet:

~What changes would you make?
~What would you do different?
~What really matters?

The reality is, none of us know when our time here will end?  Are you ready for what comes next? Something to think about.

Well, I hate the show has come to an end.  I’m sure I can find something better to do for an hour on Monday Night than watch TV.  Jack, you will be missed.  The good news is he lived, and the writers left it open for a comeback or maybe even the BIG SCREEN!

I will close this post with this challenge.

Know who you are, know what’s right, and be willing to stand up to the “bad guy” and fight for it!

A Great Weekend!

I usually do this on Sunday Night, but yesterday I put the laptop aside and just spent some much-needed time with the family.  We went over to my brother in laws house, threw some chicken on the grill and just kicked back.  LOVED IT!!!

Here are a few thoughts from the weekend…

  • Saturday we had a group from Faith Renewed go over and help out with the Mauldin Miracle League.  This is an awesome organization that allows special needs children to play baseball.  You can check out the pics on our Facebook page.  Look at the smiles on the kids faces.  (Especially our kids!) It will touch your heart.
  • Sunday Rocked!

  • I preached Part 4 of Who Am I?  A Sermon Series on helping the Believer understand their true identity in Christ.  I love teaching on this subject!
  • Ephesians 1:7 in The Message Bible says, Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free!
  • Our identity is not based on our skin color, job, car we drive, or how much $ we have in the bank.  No matter how ugly our past may be.  When we receive HIM we’re FREE!
  • When you understand that, you can face any opposition.  I spent a lot of my time yesterday talking about the story of Elijah when he faced the 450 prophets of Baal.
  • ONE man stood against so many, because he knew who he was.
  • You are MORE than you know!
  • The BEST part of the weekend is that people grabbed hold of The Word… God was doing HIS thing in the altars, (yes we still have those in our church) and lives were changed forever!
  • So PUMPED about what He’s doing right now in the Body of Christ and thankful to be a part of it!!!

Hey Faith Renewed… A Quick Note…

Just a couple of things to share today…
I first of all want to thank everyone that brought out shoes for our Soles for Souls Shoe Drive for Monaview Elementary.
FROC you are the greatest!  You’re heart for Outreach is incredible!
If you would still like to give, you can do so this Sunday as well.
This is going to be such a blessing to those in need.
‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
~Jesus Christ
I’m so excited about what we’re seeing God do on Sundays at FROC!
We are seeing new faces weekly and live are being changed.
That will NEVER get old to me!
Keep sharing your story and inviting them in and we will keep telling them about Jesus.
I’m teaching part 4 of Who Am I this weekend.
You don’t want to miss it!
This week we will hear about what happens when we understand our true identity in HIM!
See you this weekend!

Sunday Night Reflections…

A few thoughts from a great weekend…

  • I turned 40 this week.  WOW!  Still feels weird to say that.  I guess I better get use to it.  Some folks from church threw a surprise party for me last night,  I had a great time!  I love spending time with my Church Family.  Thank you to EVERYONE that came out and helped make that happen.  BIG THANK YOU to Ms. Donna & Siau for all of your hard work to pull that off!!!
  • Congratulations to my baby girl!  She made the Varsity Cheerleading Team at her High School today.  I’m proud of you! (They grow up WAY too fast)
  • We had an awesome Service today at Faith Renewed!  The worship ROCKED as always!  The songs just flowed together.  Each one was bragging on how good our God is.  You know what happens when we do that, HE SHOWS UP!
  • I continued the Series Who Am I?  An awesome Word God has given me on helping us understand our true identity in Christ.  Psalms 139:13&14 says, for You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
  • God has a plan for your life.  You are not an accident!  Before you ever took your first breath, He knew you!  I’m about to get happy just thinking about that.
  • The best part of the weekend is that lives were changed!!!  Some folks got their tickets for the box seats! (Had to be there) The view is always better from there and the food is great!
  • I love what I do!  I have people tell me often that they wouldn’t have my job.  I can’t see me doing anything else.
  • Can’t wait to see what HE does next…

Have a great night!
