Dear Pastor,

I’m sure you’ve spent a lot of time in prayer for the youth of your church. You’ve probably prayed something like, “God raise up a generation that will praise You!  UNIFY the youth of our area.  Let their focus turn to YOU and away from this world.”

Guess what?  YOUR PRAYERS WERE HEARD!   With all of the decay happening right in front of our eyes, we know if something doesn’t happen soon, the next generation is in trouble.  Good news!  SOMETHING IS HAPPENING!  It’s called Unify Greenville.  Unify is a student organized and led worship event that is going to change the landscape of our area. This event will take place on 8.8.15 at 6 PM at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

I heard something the other day that deeply saddened me and showed even more how desperately we need an event like this.  Someone that is part of a large church in this area asked their pastor if they would be supporting and promoting Unify.  His answer was, “No, we are not involved.”   HERE’S THE TRUTH.  If you have anyone under the age of 25 that sits on a pew or chair in your congregation, YOU’RE INVOLVED.  This affects you and the future of the church God has called you to lead. Before my wife and I planted the church we lead, we were youth pastors for 10 years. For over a decade we asked the Lord to raise up an army that would infiltrate the camp of the enemy and take back what has been stolen from our youth and this city.  THE TIME IS NOW!

WE’VE PRAYED.
GOD ANSWERED.
THE YOUTH HAVE RESPONDED.

Let’s do EVERYTHING we can as pastors and leaders to support this movement of God.  How you ask?  PRAY!  Support it financially.  Promote it in every way you can, and ENCOURAGE your church family to attend.

PLEASE check out this link and find out how you can be a part.

GOD MOMENTS

I LOVE them!  Who doesn’t?

Had a cool one happen recently… May be a small thing to some, but it was huge to me.

I was jogging (seems like I have a lot of my cool God moments when I jog…need to run more often) the other night, and decided to run through an apartment complex that our church has been talking about adopting.  I was running and praying over the complex.  There were kids out playing, and folks involved in the normal day to day activities of life.  I prayed that generational curses would be broken off those children and that God would raise up warriors for the Kingdom of God.  THEN IT HAPPENED.  I always run to music (helps keep me motivated).  As I was running and praying the song Break Every Chain by Jesus Culture came on.

If you’re not familiar with the song, you have to check out the video below. See if you can tell why I had a “moment”.  Coincidence?  I DON’T THINK SO!

What Is Our Greatest Weapon?

We all face giants in our life.

Your giant may not be nine foot, nine inches  and named Goliath, but the final results can be the same.  Regardless of what stands in front of you, the One on the INSIDE of you is greater!

What did David face his giant with?  A sling?  A stone?  If you read the story in the Bible our first answer may be one of these, but let’s take a closer look…

1 Samuel 17:45 says, Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Three things in this verse we need to take note of.

#1 – David didn’t let the size of his enemy or the amount of weapons he carried scare him.

It’s easy to focus on those things.  When we do, fear will set in and paralyze.  Always remember, NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU WILL PROSPER!

#2 – David ran toward his giant, not from it.

Never run from what God has called you to run after.  WARS AREN’T WON IN RETREAT MODE!

#3 – David knew and used his greatest weapon.

David didn’t fight in his own strength.  He was empowered by SOMEONE greater.   David came in the name of the Lord.  He was skilled with the sling.  He had used it on many occasions.  But his skill as a warrior would not have produced the same results without the Name.  THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

WE’VE BEEN GIVEN THE AUTHORITY TO WALK IN AND USE THE NAME OF JESUS.  Experiencing this will flow out of relationship.  We must put our trust in Him.  When we do…nothing placed in front of us, will keep us from what God has prepared for us!

I should be in the hospital recovering from brain surgery, but I ran a 5K instead.

Long title I know, but I thought I would get right to the point.

Last week, my family and I had an adventure!

Long story short, I ended up in the hospital with the most excruciating pain in my head I’ve ever experienced!  The first diagnosis was a leaking aneurysm that would require brain surgery to repair.  The final diagnosis was as a ruptured vein in my brain.  Either way, I know two things to be true.  It HURT, and God BROUGHT ME through it!

Here are three things that  were vital for me during this time.

#1 – GRACE

Overcoming any obstacle in life will first of all take place because of the GRACE OF GOD.  It would be arrogant and foolish to believe we can do anything a part from a gracious God.  As you will see from the next points, I believe there are some things we must do, but even those happen because of His grace.

#2- FAITH

What you believe is crucial!  I had my body telling me one thing.  The doctors were backing up what my body was telling me.  However, the WORD OF GOD told me something else.  It says, by HIS stripes I’m healed.  We all have faith in something.  Who and what we have faith in is what really counts.  Choose to believe His Word over everything else.  Sometimes, we get to experience immediate results.  Sometimes, it may take longer…Either way, stand on the promises of God and refuse to put your faith in anything else.

#3 – DRIVE

You have to make up in your mind that you’re not staying in your current situation.  Don’t settle for less than God has for you.  I had a desire to get out and get back to life.  I didn’t run without the doctors consent.  That would also be foolish!  He told me to take it easier than normal, so that’s what I did.  After I got the thumbs up, I went for it.  Fear, doubt, lack of discipline, and many other things will try to stop you from moving forward after a setback.  REFUSE to allow those words to be part of your vocabulary.  Any great goal in life will require effort on our part.  We have a saying around our church, “Do what you can do, and trust God to do what you can’t do.”  Is there there something God is waiting on you to do?  It all starts with a decision.  Then make a plan.  Finally, surround yourself with people that will help you walk out the plan.

These three things have changed, and are continuing to change my life.  The good news is, you can experience them as well!  All three are available to you.

I want to close with a BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE that prayed for and reached out to my family and I.  The show of love and support we received was incredible.  I’ve been truly blessed with the most loving family, church family, and friends a man could have.  I LOVE YOU GUYS!
