But Who Do YOU Say That I Am?
Probably the most important question ever asked. It was without a doubt asked by the most important person that ever walked earth…JESUS.
This past Sunday at Faith Renewed in The Real Jesus Series, I talked about Jesus being God.
I asked 3 questions.
- Who Do Men Say Jesus Is?
We took a look at some of the different views that some cults and religions have of Jesus. You will have to check out the podcast to hear those…Some will BLOW YOUR MIND.
- Who Does Jesus Say He Is?
One thing is for sure, Jesus knows who He is. He made it very clear and the religious folks HATED IT (I don’t know why I just said that in my In Living Color voice). His claims to be one with God wrecked their comfy little box they tried to put Him in.
- Who Do YOU Say Jesus Is?
This is a question ONLY you can answer. It becomes personal. It really doesn’t matter what others say, or even what Jesus says, unless you put your faith in His words.
I want close with a thought provoking quote from one of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis. This is an excerpt from his book, Mere Christianity.
I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.
The REAL Jesus
We kicked off a new Series yesterday at Faith Renewed called, The Real Jesus.
It was Easter and the opening Message of this Series was entitled, The Real Jesus is ALIVE. This was not your typical Easter Message…I believe most people in attendance were there because they’ve already heard that Jesus was alive…
After taking a little time to talk about the importance of the resurrection. I turned the attention towards what I feel are 3 Responses To The Resurrection.
- IGNORE IT: Unfortunately, there are MANY that choose to totally ignore what Jesus did for them.1 Corinthians 1:18 says, For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing…I feel this is totally the wrong way to respond to the sacrifice that Jesus made.
- ACKNOWLEDGE IT: The next two responses I shared came from John 20. Take some time to read this chapter if you can. In this chapter we see that Peter and John came to the tomb, walked in to find it empty and returned home. This response to me seems just as sad as the first. I believe the devil would LOVE to make us somehow believe in our mind that it’s enough to simply ACKNOWLEDGE the RESURRECTION.
- RECEIVE IT: The only appropriate response to Jesus conquering the grave is modeled for us by Mary Magdalene. She refused to just walk in, see an empty tomb and go home. She wanted to see Jesus! Jesus said in John 11, “I AM THE RESURRECTION.” I believe Mary was there that day and remembers hearing those words. Her love for Him put her in a position to see Jesus in a way that nobody else ever has. She had an encountered with THE RISEN LORD. Mary received The Resurrection and He called by her name.
Easter is just another holiday if you haven’t received The Resurrection.

DEADPOOL Rated R for RIDICULOUS
First of all, let me say I don’t typically use my social media for this sort of thing.
I felt led so here it goes…
FRUSTRATED is one word to describe how I felt when I read the Parent’s Guide on IMDb of the latest Marvel movie, Deadpool.
As a father, I REALLY enjoy watching “hero” movies with my children. I’m a big kid myself and love seeing good ultimately triumph over evil in the end! It makes me feel like I’m seven years old again in my red rubber rain boots with a pillow case draped down my back and jumping off the top step of my parents back porch. Or scaling the door frames of our house in my Spiderman Underoos! In case you didn’t know, Underoos is underwear that’s fun to wear! (I digress.)
Anyway, this movie is filled with JUNK! There are several nude and sex scenes. It scored a 9/10 for profanity (BTW, that’s not a positive thing on this 10 scale). I have not and WILL NOT see this movie. My 18 year old son and his friend went to see it this past weekend. Thinking it was Rated PG-13 like most movies in this category. He was surprised when he was asked for an ID. This caused them to pull out their cell phones and go to IMDb. They read the content and saw the R rating. Thankfully they chose NOT to see it. (Proud dad moment right there!)
BEWARE PARENTS! Don’t take your kids to see this and make a wise decision to opt out yourself. I saw one media group praising this movie and encouraging everyone to see it. GUARD YOUR HEART!
The ticket sales have been GREAT. It broke box office records. This post is probably not going to put a dent in the pockets of those profiting from it. However, if it educates one person and keeps someone from being exposed to this kind of filth in the name of entertainment…IT WAS WORTH my time in writing.
EVERY DECISION MATTERS
PLEASE READ!
Every decision we make has a consequence. I’ve seen far TOO MANY tragedies because of bad choices. The murder that took place at Bojangles in Mauldin this weekend is just ONE OF MANY…It breaks my heart! I’m sick of hearing things like, “It’s just a little pot…It’s just one drink…We’re just messing around…It’s no big deal…” IT IS A BIG DEAL!!! If we open the door to the enemy, HE WILL COME IN! His mission is very clear. He wants to steal, kill, & DESTROY.
The mission of Jesus is also clear. 1 John 3:8 says, For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might DESTROY the works of the devil. How does Jesus stop the work of Satan in our lives? You got it! With a decision. A decision to surrender our life and will to His.
Please join me in prayer! I’m praying young and old alike will stop and think. I’m praying we all see the importance of every choice and the result it will bring. Not just for us, but for those around us and for the generations to come.
