Notes From Message On Envy…

Here are few points from the Message I preached yesterday on ENVY…

Text: Hebrews 12:1&2

1  Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

2  looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The Bible puts envy in the same category as murder, sorcery, drunkenness,  & idolatry… (Galatians 5:19-21 & Romans 1:29)

 

5 Negative Things That ENVY Will Do:

• 1. Will rob us of happiness.

Proverbs 14:30

A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.

• 2. Will cause conflict in life.

James 4:2

You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

• 3. Will make you a resentful person.
  
• 4. Leads to other sins.

James 3:16

For where envy and self–seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

• 5. Distracts us from God’s call or plan for our life.

 

3 Steps to overcoming ENVY:

• 1.    Stop comparing yourself to others.
• 2.    Be thankful for who you are and what you have.
• 3.    Show kindness to the person that you envied
