REPENTANCE, that’s fun to say.

(Only Elf enthusiasts will appreciate the title of today’s blog.)

Wrong Direction

If you’re going the wrong direction, turn around.

Jesus, John the Baptist, Peter, Paul, and others in the Bible all said the same thing.  REPENT.

If this word was used so often, then why don’t we hear it much anymore?

Repentance is a decision that results in a CHANGE of mind, which in turn leads to a CHANGE of purpose, or action.

Who really wants to be told they need to change???  The whole deny yourself and take up your cross thing just doesn’t sound that fun.

It’s clear by large numbers in attendance at churches where repentance is not preached, that the majority of people just don’t want to hear that.  GUESS WHAT?  I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT!  I certainly don’t WANT to do it.  That doesn’t change the fact that in order to follow Christ, I have to learn to walk that out.

We had a special time of prayer for America last night at our church.  As I was praying The Lord put several passages of scripture on my heart.  As I read them I think it was clear what He was trying to show me.  If America is going to change it’s direction, it needs to REPENT.

As an American (PROUD ONE BY THE WAY), that means I NEED TO REPENT.  Take a moment and ask The Lord to show you what you need to repent of.  He WILL show you.

Change will happen when we change.  This can only be done through the work of The Holy Spirit, but it begins with our decision.

Pray for me as I attempt to live this out daily.

HOW CAN I PRAY FOR YOU?

Fear NOT!!!

I received this picture in an email the other day.

As I was studying for this Sunday’s Message, I felt led to stop what I was doing and post this.

I don’t know who it’s for, but I break fear in the Name of Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of POWER and of LOVE and of a SOUND MIND.

Cheap Grace? I Don’t Think So…

This quote by Phillip Yancey has really got me thinking…

What come to your mind when you read this???

Proud Daddy

Getting ready to walk through a BIG door.

There’s been a lot of talk recently at Faith Renewed about our LEGACY.

We should take the time to encourage the ones that will carry ours as often as we can.  This blog will honor the oldest of my three INCREDIBLE kids.

If you’re a parent. You know one of the bittersweet things about parenting, is having the little miracle you once held in your hands grow up.  You CAN’T WAIT for them to take their first step, speak their first word (hoping it’s da-da of course), and the always exciting first trip to the potty!  Then it happens…You blink. Those first wobbly steps turn into solid strides, and they’re walking out the door and heading off to college.

Tomorrow, my wife and I will load up the car and move our little girl into college.  This is her second year, but first year living on campus and away from us.  Some of you may read this and think I’m making a big deal out of nothing.  For me this is HUGE.  Almost every day for the last 19 years we’ve eaten at the same table and slept under the same roof.  This is going to be a change that will take a little time to get used to.

Now to wipe my eyes and honor my little girl…No doubt God has His hand on Faith.  She received Him as her Lord at a young age, and over the years has gotten to know Him even more.  She has a heart for God.  As Faith walks through this door and into the next phase of life, I know her steps are ordered and He has big plans.  Faith has a calling to teach the next generation, and help them shape their LEGACY.

I used to sing an old Gaither Vocal Band song REALLY LOUD in my car.  I believe the chorus is fitting for this moment.

Beyond the open door is a new and fresh anointing
Hear the Spirit calling you to go
Walk on through the door
For the Lord will go before you
Into a greater power you’ve never known before

Faith, words can’t describe how proud I am of you.

Below are a few of the memories I will hold on to until you come home to wash your clothes and eat our food :).

I LOVE YOU!
